Mediation talks break down between WICB and WIPA
Mediation talks aimed at solving the dispute between the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) have broken down again.
This was announced by WICB vice-president Dave Cameron in a media conference at Kensington Oval in Barbados today.
Sir Shridath Rampaul, who was appointed mediator, had been in discussion with the feuding parties since last month. Sir Shridath says he has set month end as the deadline for reaching a solution.
The two bodies have been at odds over issues relating to players’ contracts. The disagreement has already resulted in the top players boycotting the Bangladesh series.
Although the boycott was called off after the series the WICB did not select the players for the Champions Trophy scheduled for later this month in South Africa.
The matter is now set to go to arbitration.
