At least 19 people were killed when the bus in which they were travelling plunged into a swollen river in central Nepal.

The bus was travelling to Kathmandu.

Officials say the driver was speeding when the bus tumbled about 98 feet into the Bhote Koshi River.

The death toll rose from 11 to 19 when eight bodies were recovered from the wreckage after the bus was pulled from the river.

But of the 30 to 35 people who were travelling on the bus, only 23 people have been accounted for so far.

Four of them were found alive.
