Planning for the Western Jamaica leg of the country’s tribute to the athletes who took part in the recent World Championship in Berlin, Germany is on track.

A National Planning Committee, chaired by Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange has been formed to plan the events.

The three days of celebration, which starts on October 2, includes a Fun Day and Concert at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium on the Saturday, October 4.

Artistic director for the celebrations, Trevor Naire says the Trelawny event will provide a rare opportunity for the athletes to interact with thousands of guests across western Jamaica.

He says the event at Trelawny is intended to be like a fair, featuring vending and display stalls, games, attractions and performances for children and adults, starting from 2 p.m.

The concert, which begins at 7 p.m., will feature local artistes.

The three days of celebration will also features a Golden Reception at Jamaica House and a National Thanksgiving Service at the Portmore Seventh Day Adventist Church.
