Italy held Paraguay to a goalless draw on today’s second day of the Under-20 World Cup in Egypt with the dominant South Americans missing a string of chances.
Italy started strongly with Andrea Mazzarani hitting the post in the ninth minute from a free kick that beat goalkeeper Joel Silva.
Following that near miss, Jorge Moriera of Paraguay missed two first-half chances, forcing saves from Italy’s goalkeeper Vincenzo Fiorillo.
The Italy goalkeeper also stopped threatening solo runs from Federico Santander in the 52nd and Hernan Perez in the 69th.
During yesterday’s first day, hosts Egypt beat Trinidad and Tobago 4-1 in the opening game of the tournament.
