WI seamer to captain Montserrat
West Indies seamer Lionel Baker will captain Montserrat in two warm-up matches against Antigua and Barbuda ahead of the NAGICO Leeward Islands Cricket Association one-day tournament later this month.
Baker, the first Montserratian to represent the West Indies in Tests, will skipper a relatively inexperienced side against defending champions Antigua and Barbuda in two 50-over-a-side contests at Salem Park on Saturday and Sunday.
Montserrat depart for St Kitts on October 11 to play in a zone grouped with the hosts, the British Virgin Islands and Nevis.
If successful, the side then travels to St Maarten, where the semi-finals and the finals will be contested.
Baker will be hoping to catch the eye of regional selectors after an unimpressive showing during his last tour with the West Indies in England earlier this year.
