Britain’s Chancellor Alistair Darling has recommended a pay freeze for 40 thousand senior public servants starting in the 2010/ 2011 financial year.
It’s reported that Mr Darling has written to salary review bodies calling for them to freeze the pay of judges, senior National Health Service managers and government general practitioners.
If it is fully implemented, the pay freeze would be the toughest public sector pay deal in 30 years.
There has been a growing debate in Britain to cut spending as the Government faces mounting debt.
As a response to the financial challenges the ruling Conservative party has announced plans to extend by a year the age at which citizens can get their state pension.
