The interim leader of Honduras, Roberto Micheletti, is resisting calls by regional ministers and diplomats to restore ousted president Manuel Zelaya.

Delegations from a dozen countries across the Americas made the demand after arriving in Honduras to try to mediate between the two sides.

But Mr Micheletti is insisting that Mr Zelaya\'s removal from power was lawful.

Meanwhile, the ousted leader is still calling for his reinstatement to the presidency by October 15.

Mr Micheletti has said he will be happy to step down - but only if Mr Zelaya also renounces his claim to be president.

He also says the presidential election scheduled for November 29 will go ahead, unless Honduras is attacked or invaded.
