The St Vincent and the Grenadines\' Constitutional Review Steering Committee is seeking to assure that people\'s fundamental rights and freedoms will not be compromised in the country\'s proposed new constitution.

Committee member Seon Marshall says the changes to be voted on in a referendum next month, strengthen those rights and freedoms contained in the current constitution.

The governing Unity Labour Party (ULP) is conducting a campaign in favour of the referendum.

The opposition New Democratic Party is countering the ULP campaign with its own vote no initiative.
