More pressure mounts on New Delhi
The Commonwealth Games Federation has given New Delhi a vote of confidence despite the slow pace of preparations for the 2010 Games.
The federation has decided to form a monitoring panel to ensure timely construction of venues.
Commonwealth Games Federation president Mike Fennell of Jamaica says the federation has no plans to move the 2010 Commonwealth Games out of New Delhi, India.
Fennell warned organizers that deadlines for infrastructure could no longer be pushed back.
Most of the venues were constructed for the 1982 Asian Games and need refurbishment for the biggest multiple-sport event in the country in 27 years.
Fennell said the Commonwealth Games Federation would now form a high-level, independent, technical review panel to monitor the progress every month.
