Barbados champion horse Daylight Express advertised his true class and registered a fine upset win on Sunday afternoon at Woodbine, Canada\'s premier racetrack, according to a report on www.cananews.net.

In only his second start in Canada, Daylight Express rebounded from his weak debut effort in last month\'s rich Woodbine Mile to land the CAN$76,760 Allowance seventh race over 1-1/4 miles for three-year-olds and up with Barbadian jockey Jono Jones astride for trainer Robert Peirce at odds of 10 to 1.

The impressive 2009 Sandy Lane Gold Cup winner at the Garrison Savannah racetrack in March, raced near the back of the six-horse field down the backstretch and improved his position leaving the far turn.

The four-year-old colt was roused to challenge the leaders and collared the front-runners heading into final turn.

He duelled down the entire homestretch with the 5-2 second favourite Royal Challenger with Barbadian jockey Patrick Husbands and won by half-length in two minutes, 04.87 seconds for Barbados champion owner Lord Michael Taylor.

Royal Challenge placed second and the 3-1 bet Bears Tiger was third.

Daylight Express finished last in the CAN$1 million Woodbine Mile last month but looked a far improved racer on Sunday as he recorded a rare win for a Caribbean horse in Canada..

Husbands scored two wins on the card to widen his lead in the jockeys\' title race.
