daCosta Cup Round Up

Manning’s High blanked Petersfield 3-0 yesterday in their Zone ‘C’ clash to join the latest group of qualifiers for the inter-zone round ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup football competition.



Also advancing yesterday were St Elizabeth Technical High School, STETHS, and Munro out of Zone ‘E’.



STETHS whipped Black River 5-0 to book their spot.



Munro, whose game against Newell High was rained out, advanced after Balaclava, who were still in the inter-zone race suffered a 2-0 defeat to Lacovia.



In Zone ‘I’, Old Harbour High clinched one of the group’s two inter-zone places, when they blanked Central High 2-0 to move to 21 points.



In Zone ‘D’, Marcus Garvey slipped into the inter-zone phase despite playing to a 0-0 draw with Brown’s Town, which lifted them to 26 points. However, the other place in the group remains wide open after William Knibb and Cedric Titus battled to a 1-1 draw.



In Zone ‘L’, Port Antonio, edged Seafort 2-1 and Paul Bogle blanked Fair Prospect 2-nil to secure the two inter-zone spots.



The competition continues this afternoon at 3:30 with three games, including the crucial Zone ‘A’ clash between Cornwall College and Spot Valley.
