Norman Manley qualify for Manning Cup
Norman Manley High carved out a 2-0 victory over Kingston College in their top of the table clash at Tinson Pen yesterday to book their spot in the second round of the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup football competition.
The result puts Norman Manley on an unassailable 27 points in Group ‘B’, 8 ahead of Kingston College on 19.
By virtue of taking an unassailable lead, Norman Manley also qualified for the Walker Cup Knockout.
In the group’s other matches, Ardenne outscored St Jago 5-3, and Innswood beat Jose Marti 1-0.
Over in Group ‘C’, Calabar defeated Cumberland 3-1, while the game between Campion College and Tarrant ended 1-1.
Over in Group ‘F’, Charlie Smith blanked Kingston Technical 2-0, while Eltham edged Ascot 2-1.
The competition continues this afternoon at 3:30 with nine games across three groups.
In the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup, Cornwall College defeated Spot Valley 1-0 to join champions St James High atop Zone standings, while Christiana defeated Holmwood 3-0, and Green Pond blanked Muschett 2-0.
That competition continues tomorrow.
