The Antigua and Barbuda’s finance minister, Harold Lovell, says his government will seek to avoid job losses under its proposed loan agreement with the International Monetary Fund, IMF.

The government has pledged to cut the public sector wage bill by 20 per cent over the duration of the programme.

The details of the loan conditions are still to be negotiated.

So too is the size of the loan but Mr Lovell says the Antiguan government could borrow up to US$125 million from the IMF.
