Injunction blamed for election delay

St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas said he’s unable to call a general election because of an injunction filed by the opposition Peoples Action Movement (PAM).

The injunction bars electoral officials from using new electoral boundaries.

However lead attorney for PAM, Mia Mottley said the injunction is no longer valid because the case is over.

She said the judgement of the court still stands, unless the government decides to appeal the decision.

A parliamentary order changing the election boundaries in St Kitts and Nevis was recently rejected by the courts.
