Jamaica beat New Zealand
Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls turned in a brilliant performance last night to register a rare win over New Zealand, beating the world number two team 53-50 to tie their National Commercial Bank 2 test series.
New Zealand held a narrow 16-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, Jamaica bounced back to win the second quarter 27-21, the third quarter 40-36 before holding on.
The 20-year-old star shooter Romelda Aiken netted a game high 38 goals from 47 attempts for Jamaica, who are ranked Number four in the world. Captain Simone Forbes supported with 15 goals from 19 attempts.
The result represents the second time Jamaica have beaten New Zealand in 43 Tests.
Jamaica had drawn a similar 2 test series with world number one Australia earlier this week.
