Jamaica suffers defeat in President’s Cup

Jamaica suffered a 90-run defeat to reigning champions Trinidad and Tobago in their rain-reduced first round West Indies Cricket Board President’s Cup limited-overs match, at the National Stadium in Guyana today.



Chasing a victory target of 201, Jamaica could only manage 111 for nine off their allotted 44 overs.



Brenton Parchment top scored for Jamaica with 23. Dave Mohammed three for 25 and Dwayne Bravo three for 30 were the top bowlers for T&T.



Earlier, T&T scored 201 for nine off 44 overs, with Darren Bravo getting 43 and Denesh Ramdin 25.



Bowling for Jamaica, Nikita Miller ended with two for 28, David Bernard Junior two for 29 and Odean Brown two for 39.



West Indies players Chris Gayle and Jerome Taylor were omitted from the Jamaica team because of flu. Shawn Findlay was also missing.



Over at Enmore, Guyana beat Leeward Islands by three wickets. Scores in that game, Leeward Islands 193 off 49.5 overs, Guyana 194 for seven off 46.1 overs.
