Dominica honours Shillingford

Former West Indies fast bowler, Grayson Shillingford, has been recognized by Dominica for his contribution to cricket.
The 63-year-old Shillingford was awarded the island’s second highest honour, the Sisserou Award of Honour, during Dominica’s 31st Independence celebration yesterday at Windsor Park, was unable to collect the award because he is gravely ill in Canada.
Between 1969 and 1973, Shillingford played seven Tests for the West Indies against England, New Zealand and India.
He took seven wickets, at an average of 37.73 runs apiece.
During his 77 first-class matches played, he took 217 wickets, at an average of 26.54, with best returns of six wickets for 49 runs against Trinidad and Tobago at Basseterre in St Kitts.
