St Lucia has recorded its first death linked to the influenza A (HINI) virus.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Joshia Rambally said a 45 year-old male patient had been suffering with the virus for a number of days.
Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Barbados and Jamaica are among CARICOM countries that have already reported deaths from the virus.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health in St Lucia is advising persons to remain on alert as the island deals with the second wave of the virus.
St Lucia is among CARICOM countries that will benefit from the distribution of a vaccine to deal with the virus later this month.
