John Allen Mohammad, the man convicted of killing 10 persons and injuring several others in Washington D.C. in the United States, is expected to be executed today.

Mohammad is to die by lethal injection at the Greensville Correctional Center in Virginia.

His execution is expected to go ahead after the Supreme Court yesterday denied his conviction appeal.

Governor of Virginia, Tim Kaine, has reportedly indicated that he will not grant clemency to Mohammad.

In October 2002, Mohammad and his Jamaican born accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo went on a shooting spree over a three week period.

Mohammad was convicted of capital murder and terrorism charges in Virginia and was also found guilty on six murder charges in Maryland.

Malvo was tried for murder in Virginia and was sentenced to life in prison after defense attorneys said Malvo, who was 17 at the time of the murders, was brainwashed by Mohammad to commit the killings.
