Cricket’s world governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), will officially launch the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Dunedin, New Zealand on Monday.

The launch will be held at University Oval, Dunedin and will be attended by ICC Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat along with Under-19 Cricket World Cup Tournament Director, Tim Murdoch.

West Indies will be one of 16 teams doing battle in the tournament, which is scheduled to run from January 15-30 in New Zealand.

West Indies, finalists in 2004 when the tournament was staged in Bangladesh, have been drawn in Group ‘D’ with Pakistan, Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea.

Group ‘D’ matches will be contested in Napier and Palmerston North.

West Indies will open their campaign against Pakistan, while titleholders India will start the defence of their title against qualifiers Afghanistan.

The Caribbean side will play official warm up matches against Australia and Ireland in the build up to the tournament.
