Sarwan to miss first test?

West Indies batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan is now doubtful for the first of three tests matches against Australia starting this evening Jamaica time at the Gabba.

Sarwan is suffering a back injury after falling awkwardly while executing a fielding drill.

The injury kept him on the turf at the Allan Border Field for several minutes before he was helped away by teammates and medical staff.

Windies captain Chris Gayle said Sarwan\'s absence would hurt the team a bit.

Meanwhile, Michael Slater favours his native Australia to roll over the West Indies but he believes the Caribbean side could be quite competitive during the three-Test series.

Slater, a former Australian opener, now a television cricket presenter, feels the West Indies could surprise a few people with their competitiveness.

He has also criticized the Australian selection panel for its choices for the opening Test.
