Xavier Marshall hit a top score 69 on yesterday’s rain-hit second day of the second trial match to help select Jamaica’s team for the upcoming regional four-day cricket competition at Melbourne Oval.

Hitting the ball to various parts of the ground before the showers came shortly after lunch Marshall ticked off 13 fours off 70 balls, as David Bernard Jr’s Eleven closed at 244-4 in reply to Tamar Lambert’s Eleven’s modest first innings score of 182.

Former West Indies youth opener, Horace Miller, 40 not out, and former Jamaica junior opener, wicketkeeper Marverick Perry, 25 not out, will resume batting this morning at 10:00.

Hard-hitting left-hander Shawn Findlay, 39, Brenton Parchment, 27, and newcomer, John-Ross Campbell, 23, were the other batsmen to get runs yesterday.

Left-arm bowler, Andre Dwyer, claimed 2 for 9 off 2 point 3 overs before picking up a hand injury to end as the top bowler.

Left-arm spinner, Nikita Miller and seamer, Krishmar Santokie, have so far claimed a wicket each for Lambert’s XI.
