Tiger Woods\' mother-in-law was admitted to a hospital early this morning with a stomach ailment after a 911 call was made from the golfer\'s home.

Dan Yates from Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida, said doctors are still evaluating Barbro Holmberg, who is in stable condition.

No further details on the condition of Holmberg, the mother of Woods\' wife, Elin Nordegren, were immediately available.

Last week, Woods apologized to his family for letting them down amid speculation about his private life.

The statement came days after he was found bleeding and semi-conscious after his car hit a tree and a fire hydrant outside his home.

It also followed a story in a US gossip magazine, that he had had a 31 months affair with a Los Angeles cocktail waitress.

Woods was later charged with careless driving and fined US$164.

The 14-time major champion has been married to his Swedish wife, Elin, a former model, for five years.

The couple has two children.
