Usain Bolt has won the Overseas award for the second year running at the 2009 BBC Sports Personality of the Year show.

The Jamaican followed on from his epic feats at the Olympics by setting new world records to win both the 100 and 200 metres at the World Championships.

His sensational time of 9.58 seconds in the 100 metres in Berlin was coupled with an equally unbelievable 19.19 in the 200 metres.

Only boxing legend Muhammad Ali and tennis superstar, Roger Federer have won the award on successive occasions.

Meanwhile, Ryan Giggs was named BBC 2009 Sports personality of the year, beating the favourite Formula One champion, Jenson Button.

The 36-year-old Manchester United winger is the most decorated player in English football history and in May won a record 11th Premier League winners’ medal.

Jessica Ennis, the 23-year-old from Sheffield who won gold in the heptathlon at the World Athletics Championships in the summer, finished third.

England’s Ashes heroes were named team of the year for their achievement in beating Australia.

Fabio Capello was named Coach of the year after the Italian guided England to qualification for the 2010 World Cup in a near-faultless campaign.
