Manufacturing company recalls H1N1 vaccine
One of the five manufacturers supplying Influenza H1N1 vaccine to the United States is recalling hundreds of thousands of flu shots because they are not as potent as they should be.
The French Manufacturer, Sanofi Pasteur is voluntarily recalling about 800,000 doses of vaccine meant for children between the ages of 6 months and 3 years old.
Spokesman for the company, Len Lavenda said test results revealed that the vaccine\'s potency was 12 percent below where it should be.
In early November, the vaccine manufacturer had shipped about 800,000 of the H1N1 vaccine to the US.
According to the spokesman, all the vaccines passed all the tests before they left the factory.
However, Mr. Lavenda said the company later learnt that the vaccines had failed the tests.
