Puerto Rico has adjusted the legal limit for which a person can be prosecuted for drunk driving.
The move is aimed at curtailing underage drinking.
Governor Luis Fortuno has signed legislation that lowers the blood alcohol limit for drivers between 18 and 20 years of age, to .02 percent, from the standard .08 percent.
The standard rate is applied to all other drivers in Puerto Rico.
Meanwhile, some Puerto Rican Senators have criticized the measure, saying that the government should instead increase the legal drinking age to 21 from 18 as a way to curb drunk driving.
