England take charge of second Test

Opener Alastair Cook hit his 10th Test century and Paul Collingwood scored 91 to put England in control after today’s third day of the second Test against South Africa at the Kingsmead Stadium.



England closed the day on 386 for 5, a lead of 43 runs, with Cook making 118.



England had resumed the third day on 103 for 1, replying to South Africa’s first innings score of 343.



Cook, who turned 25 on Christmas Day, completed his 10th test hundred during the second session. He and Collingwood added 142 for the fourth wicket in 45.1 overs.



Ian Bell 55 and Matt Prior 11 are the batsmen at the crease.



The pick of the South African bowlers was paceman, Morne Morkel, who finished the day with figures of 3 for 69.



Scores in the game so far are South Africa 343, England 386 for 5.
