Victoria beat Queensland by three runs in opening game

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo scored 36 from 18 balls to help Victoria beat Queensland by three runs on the Duckworth/Lewis Method in the opening game of Australia’s 20/20 Big Bash tournament today.



Sent in to bat Victoria scored 157 for 8 off their allotted 20 overs and then restricted Queensland to 121 for 6 off 16 overs when rain ended play.



Ross Taylor top scored for Victoria with 58 against the bowling of Ryan Harris 3 for 23 and James Hopes 2 for 39.



Craig Philipson 33 not out and James Hopes 22 scored most runs for Queensland.



John Hastings, 3 for 21, took most wickets for Victoria.



Bravo is one of four West Indies players in Australia for the tournament.



The other players are Captain Chris Gayle, out-of-favour hard-hitting batsman, Kieron Pollard and discarded batsman, Dwayne Smith.
