Leeds win famous FA Cup victory

Jermaine Beckford scored in the 19th minute to push League One leaders, Leeds to a famous FA Cup victory over their fierce rivals Manchester United in a thrilling tie at Old Trafford yesterday.



42 league places separate the two clubs following the Yorkshire club’s dramatic fall from grace during the last decade, but Simon Grayson’s side showed the rate of their recent revival with a memorable triumph.



Manchester United had never before lost in the third round of the FA Cup or been knocked out of it by a lower division side during Sir Alex Ferguson’s 23 years reign as manager.



Meanwhile, Arsenal came from behind to book a place in the fourth round with a 2-1 win at West Ham.



Two goals from Daniel Sturridge inspired Chelsea to a 5-0 thrashing of woeful Watford at Stamford Bridge as the holders moved effortlessly into the fourth round.



In other games, Wolves scored a hard-fought 1-0 victory over League One Tranmere at Preston Park, Sheffield Wednesday and Queens Park Rangers battled to a 1-1 draw, while the Notts County’s tie against Forest Green Rovers was postponed due to a frozen pitch at Meadow Lane.
