Jamaica within sight of victory over Windwards
Reigning champions, Jamaica will resume this morning on 20 for 2, chasing a victory target of 98 to beat Windward Islands in their first round West Indies Cricket Board four-day match at Chedwin Park in St Catherine.
The batsmen dismissed so far are opener, Brenton Parchment without scoring and Donovan Pagan for 8.
Discarded West Indies batsman, Xavier Marshall is undefeated on 10.
Earlier, the Jamaicans leading by 154 runs on first innings dismissed Windward Islands for 252 in their second innings on the third day’s play. Windward Islands were 19 for 1 overnight.
Rawl Lewis led the way for Windward Islands with an unbeaten 63.
Bowling for Jamaica, Dave Bernard Junior, Nikita Miller and Odean Brown all finished with 2 wickets each.
Scores in the match so far are Windward Islands 181 and 252, Jamaica 335 and 20 for 2.
While, over at Kensington Park, Leeward Islands, leading Barbados by 7 runs on first innings, will resume this morning’s final day on 186 for 6, batting a second time. Scores in that game are Leeward Islands 236 and 186 for 6, Barbados 229.
Over at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay, Persistent rains that started early yesterday and continued throughout the day, forced the third day’s play between Trinidad and Tobago and Combined Campuses and Colleges to be abandoned.
Combined Campuses and Colleges will resume this morning on 105 for 4 in their second innings.
