India beat Bangladesh by 113 runs
A defiant final-day century from Mushfiqur Rahim proved to be in vain as India beat hosts Bangladesh by 113 runs in the first Test in Chittagong today.
Set a target of 415, Bangladesh resumed on 67 for 2 but, were bowled out for 301 in their second innings despite 101 from wicketkeeper, Rahim.
Rahim was the last man out. The only other meaningful resistance came from Tamim Iqbal who scored 52.
Leg-spinner, Amit Mishra, who grabbed four second session wickets, was the chief destroyer for India, while Ishant Sharma finished with 3 for 48.
Final scores in the match are India 243 and 413 for 8 declared, Bangladesh 242 and 301.
India, the number one ranked Test team, can wrap up a series win in the second and final match which begins in Dhaka on Sunday.
