Jamaica defeated their CONCACAF neighbours Canada 1-0 in a friendly international at the National Stadium last night with striker Luton Shelton scoring the lone goal.
Shelton’s goal came in the 68th minute and provided the 81st ranked Reggae Boyz with a positive result as the match was used by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) to launch its 2014 Brazil World Cup campaign.
As a result of the victory, Jamaica avenged their 1-0 defeat to the Canadians at the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup in Los Angeles, California.
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz will now play away to Argentina in another friendly international set for February 10.
