T&T defeat Leewards Islands
Trinidad and Tobago registered their first victory of the 2009 WICB regional first-class championships when they defeated Leeward Islands by 45 runs on today’s final day of their fourth round match.
The game was played at Four Square Oval in Barbados.
Leeward Islands, set a victory target of 202 runs, were dismissed for 156 after resuming this morning on 115 for five.
Imran Khan, four for 35 and Amit Jaggernauth, three for 40, were the chief wicket takers for T&T.
Wilden Cornwall top scored for Leeward Islands in the second innings with 34, while Kieran Powell and Montcin Hodge chipped in with 33 runs each.
Final scores are T&T 176 and 226; Leeward Islands 201 and 156.
As a result of the victory, T&T have moved to joint third place with Barbados on 21 points, 15 behind leaders Jamaica on 36.
Combined Campuses and Colleges moved to second place on 24 points after defeating Guyana by five-wickets yesterday at Three Ws Oval.
Over at Kensington Oval Barbados, trailing by Windward Islands by 20 runs on first innings in their day/night match, will resume today’s final day on 250 for four in their second innings.
