Barbados defeat Windward Islands

Barbados have moved within three points of leaders Jamaica after completing a 98-run victory over Windward Islands in their day/night fourth round match in the WICB regional first-class championship yesterday.



The game was played at Kensington Oval in Barbados.



Windward Islands set a victory target of 273 were bowled out for 174 against the bowling of Tino Best five for 41 and Kevin Stoute three for 16.



Andre Fletcher top scored for Windward Islands with an undefeated 77 while Devon Smith scored 54.



Earlier, Barbados declared their second innings at 292 for seven after resuming the final morning on 250 for four.



Final scores are Barbados 287 and 292 for seven declared, Windward Islands 307 and 174.



As a result of the victory, Barbados have fortified their second place, moving to 33 points, three behind current leaders and reigning champions Jamaica on 36.



Combined Campuses and Colleges, who defeated Guyana by five wickets at the Three Ws Oval on Sunday, hold down third place on 33 points.



Trinidad and Tobago moved to fourth place on 21 points, after securing a 45 runs victory over Leeward Islands at Four Square Oval in Barbados yesterday.



The next round starts on Friday in Guyana.
