St Kitts PM announces debt reduction
St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas has announced that debt reduction will be one of the priorities of his administration’s fourth term.
Prime Minister Douglas was speaking yesterday at the swearing ceremony of his new 10-member Cabinet.
He says his administration will have to change its management of the economy, after 14 consecutive years as the government of the twin-island federation.
Dr Douglas has committed to continuing to provide social services.
He says the government will be more vigilant in collecting outstanding revenues, controlling expenditure and securing fiscal surpluses.
He says the as part of initiatives to better fiscal management greater emphasis will be placed on reporting fiscal performance and debt management of each ministry.
