Barbados Company to help Haiti
A Barbados-based company has announced a campaign to raise a minimum of US$7 million to assist with restoration efforts in Haiti, which is struggling to cope in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake last month.
The Water of Life Incorporated which describes itself as a Christian health and wellness company, says it was preparing to introduce a new bottled water product to the Caribbean when the magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti.
However, the company says it changed its plans in light of the disaster that has been blamed for more than 200,000 deaths in the French-speaking country.
It says it has now decided to use its bottled water product as a cornerstone of a Caribbean-led, seven-year, global fundraising and restoration campaign for Haitiā, which it has dubbed The Caribbean Loves Haiti Restoration Campaign.
Under that campaign seven to 70 per cent of the proceeds from all sales of its bottled water in the Caribbean will be donated to the Haiti Restoration Campaign Fund.
