Barbados reply strongly to Jamaica’s total
The top-of-the-table clash between tournament leaders Jamaica and Barbados was interestingly poised following today’s opening day of their sixth round WICB Regional first class match at the Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in Trinidad and Tobago.
At stumps, Barbados, replying to Jamaica’s 226 all out, reached 113 for 1 with Dale Richards undefeated on 63 and Jason Haynes 23 not out.
Captain Tamar Lambert has taken the only wicket to fall.
Earlier, David Bernard Junior top scored for Jamaica with 55, while Lambert scored 41 and Odean Brown 33. Corey Edwards ended with 6 for 41.
Jamaica, with maximum 48 points, are three ahead of Barbados and avoiding defeat will assure them their third successive four-day title.
This will be the final game of the season for Barbados, while Jamaica have another match to play.
Over at the Queen’s Park Oval, Windward Islands, responding to Trinidad and Tobago’s 263, reached 23 for 1 at the close.
Over at the National Cricket Centre, bottom place Guyana, replying to Leeward Islands’ 192, were 42 for 2 at stumps.
