Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser named UNICEF ambassador

Sprint queen Shelly-Ann Fraser, has been appointed the first national Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF Jamaica.



The World and Olympics 100-metre champion received her certificate of appointment and a pin to identify her as goodwill ambassador at last night’s All-Stars Track Dinner, a fundraiser for Haiti held at Acropolis Restaurant in Kingston.



UNICEF representative Robert Fuderich presented Fraser with her award.



Fuderich says as a National Goodwill Ambassador of Jamaica, Fraser will focus on early childhood development and education.



Fraser is a final year Child Care and Development student at the University of Technology.



The world’s fastest man Usain Bolt, former world 100-metre record holder Asafa Powell, World Championship 100-metre hurdles champion Brigitte Foster-Hylton, and Olympic and World Championship 400-metre hurdles gold medallist Melaine Walker also attended the dinner.
