West Indies’ miserable Australian summer ended in further gloom today, when they plunged to an embarrassing eight-wicket loss in the second and final 20/20 international at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Batting first the Caribbean side was restricted to 138 for seven, and Australia needed just 11.4 overs to secure victory.

Narsingh Deonarine top scored for West Indies with 36 not out from 29 balls. Travis Dowlin 31, Darren Sammy 26 not out and captain Chris Gayle 12 were the only other Windies players to reach double figure.

Needing 139 for victory, openers David Warner 67 from 29 balls and Shane Watson 62 not out from 33 easily carried Australia home.

Nikita Miller took both Australian wickets.

As a result of the victory, Australia completed a memorable unbeaten home series of internationals against Pakistan and West Indies.
