Graeme Swann led England to a comprehensive 181-run victory in the first Test against Bangladesh, but not before the tourists were made to sweat during a wicket less opening session in Chittagong.

Having toiled without reward for the entire evening session on day four yesterday, England were again worked hard by a formidable 167-run stand between Junaid Siddique, who posted his maiden Test century, and Mushfigur Ramhin on the final morning.

After reaching lunch at 277 for five without losing a wicket on the final morning, Bangladesh were bowled out for 331 before tea chasing an improbable 513 to win.

Bangladesh had resumed this morning on 191 for five.

Siddique was out for 106; his country’s first Test century against England, and Mushfiqur fell five short of a second century.

Both batsmen were dismissed by Swann, who ended the match with a 10-wicket haul.

He had five for 127 in the second innings and Tim Bresnan took three for 36.

Final scores in the match:- England 599 for six declared and 209 for seven declared; Bangladesh 296 and 331.

The second Test takes place in Dhaka on Saturday.
