BA strike impact expected to be minimal

St Lucian hoteliers say a planned strike by British Airways cabin crew is unlikely to affect the island.

The first three-day strike is scheduled to take place from tomorrow, although last minute talks are continuing between British Airways and Unite, the union representing BA’s cabin crew, in a bid to avert the strike.

The president of the St Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association, Anthony Bowen, says from assurances given, BA flights to the island are likely to continue during the strike.

But he acknowledges that the situation could change.

The UK is St Lucia’s second largest tourist market.
