Outstanding Jamaica-bred colt Bruce on the Loose was named Trinidad and Tobago’s Horse-of-the-Year for 2009 at the Jetsam Awards function this week.

The award was one of three for the four-year-old horse who also took the honour as the Champion three-year-old colt and Champion Creole Stayer.

Bruce on the Loose, who has become a favourite at Santa Rosa Park, had an amazing outing last year as he won the Midsummer Classic, the Trinidad Derby, the Champion Stakes and the Gold Cup.

His victories confirmed him as one of the best thoroughbreds to have graced the track at Santa Rosa Park in Arima, beating the best thoroughbreds while becoming the fourth leading money spinner in local racing.

Another Jamaica-bred horse Treasure Hunt was on the honours list, winning the award for the top juvenile colt. The three-year-old chestnut colt was unbeaten in his two starts.
