By-election results finally announced in Bahamas

Opposition Progressive Liberal Party candidate, Ryan Pinder, has been named by the courts as the duly elected member of parliament for the Elizabeth constituency.

The announcement comes nearly a month after Mr. Pinder’s political rival, Duane Sands, of the Free National Movement edged him out by two votes following a mandatory recount.

Ryan Pinder had, days later, filed a petition to have the votes counted.

The court had been asked to determine the validity of six protest votes, to determine if the voters were properly registered, and if the votes should be allowed.
