The government of St Kitts and Nevis says it will be conducting public consultations to determine the percentage rate of a proposed value added tax (VAT) and the items that will be taxed.

The government says the legislation for VAT that has to be drafted, will allow for meaningful consultations.

It says VAT legislation should receive parliamentary approval by May.
