Opposition vows to boycott parliament

Dominica\'s opposition United Workers Party (UWP) says its three elected Members of Parliament will continue to boycott the country\'s parliament.

They did not attend yesterday’s sitting of the House of Assembly.

The opposition says the boycott is to protest what it claims were irregularities in the last general election that was won by the ruling Dominica Labour Party.

The UWP, which has gone to the High Court challenging the results of five constituencies including that of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, wants fresh general elections within 18 months.

In addition, the party wants electoral reform with the provision of voter identification cards and a new voters’ list.
