Stanford wants new lawyers

Disgraced financier, Allen Stanford, has made a request for a new team of attorneys, his fourth in less than a year.

Mr Stanford asked for new legal representatives in a motion filed yesterday.

His current attorneys say they’re more than happy to step aside because of the tremendous conflict between them and Mr Stanford over how the case should be tried.

US District Judge David Hittner is yet to make a ruling on the motion.

Mr Stanford is being held in a Texas jail, awaiting trial on accusations of orchestrating a multi-billion dollar fraud scheme.

He has denied the charges.
