National team for festival matches named
Three uncapped members of Jamaica’s regional Under-19 championship-winning squad have been named in a senior national team for matches against Ireland in the inaugural Jamaica Cricket Festival which begins on April 3.
Leg-spinner Akeem Dewar, fast bowler Jermaine Blackwood, and batsman Kemar Marshall have been drafted into the 20-member squad from which the Jamaicans will draw their playing side for the series.
All of the usual suspects have been included in the national side that will be led by Tamar Lambert, who successfully took them to three straight regional first-class titles.
Jamaica will open with a three-day match against the Irish on April 3 at Chedwin Park.
They will then play two 50 overs-a-side matches against Ireland and Canada at the Port Rhoades Sports Club (formerly Kaiser Oval) on April 7 and 8 respectively.
Both teams will then move into the 20/20 version with matches against each other at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium on April 10 and 11.
