Dowlin to lead Windies ‘A’ team

Overlooked for the recent one-day series against Zimbabwe, Travis Dowlin was today named to lead the West Indies A side against the touring Africans later this month.

The Guyanese right-hander, who last played for the senior squad on the one-day tour of Australia earlier this year, is the only player with international experience in the 13-man side.

Dowlin had a wretched tour of Australia, managing 11 runs from five innings as West Indies were humbled 4-0 in the five-match series.

He was subsequently dropped for Zimbabwe’s tour of the Caribbean, as West Indies struggled before winning 4-1.

Dowlin will lead the A side in one four-day match and two 20/20 matches at the National Stadium in Grenada starting April 16.

The other members of the squad are Brandon Bess, Kraigg Brathwaite, Shane Dowrich, Kirk Edwards, Assad Fudadin, Shannon Gabriel, Justin Guillen, Jason Haynes, Jason Holder, Imran Khan, Nelon Pascal, Shane Shillingford.
