The Foreign Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Sir Louis Straker, says recruitment of local soldiers by the British army may be affected by last week\'s court ruling.
Tilern De Bique, a Vincentian-born single-mother soldier won a race and sex discrimination case against the British Ministry of Defence at an employment tribunal.
Corporal DeBique, who has since left the Army, had been disciplined after not appearing on parade because she had to look after her daughter.
Sir Louis said there are about 800 Vincentians in the UK army and he’s expecting that there will be repercussions as a result of the case.
According to him recruitment prospects to the army are already diminishing because of increased applications from Britons.
