West Indies Women beat New Zealand

West Indies Women defeated New Zealand Women by three wickets in their World 20/Twenty Championship warm-up match at St Mary’s Park in St Kitts today.



Set a victory target of 154, West Indies got to their total off the final ball for the loss of seven wickets.



Deandra Dottin top scored for West Indies with 31 from 17 deliveries. She was supported by Juliana Nero with 20 from 31 balls, Stafanie Taylor 18 from 16 and Pamela Lavine 17 not out from 21.



Natalie Dodd was the most successful bowler for New Zealand with three for 14.



Earlier, New Zealand batting after winning the toss scored 153 for seven off their allotted 20 overs with Aimee Watkins 56, Nicole Browne 30 and Sara McGlashan 20, the main scorers.



In other warm-up games in St Kitts today, titleholders England defeated Sri Lanka by 83 runs at St Paul’s Sports Complex and India beat South Africa by 23 runs at St Mary’s Park.



The women\'s 20/Twenty Championship opens on Wednesday and all the first round matches will be played at Warner Park in St Kitts. West Indies are drawn in Group A, with England, Australia, and South Africa. Group B includes: Sri Lanka New Zealand, India and Pakistan.



The semis will be played at Beausejour in St Lucia and the final at Kensington Oval in Barbados on May 16.
